I disagree with this article if for no other reason than the TV Show “Jack Ass” and all news magazines. 20/20 has had shows where a guy was breaking a window in broad daylight and almost no one did anything.
“Kitty Genovese was raped and murdered despite waking 38 people with her screams, not one of whom either came to her aid or called the police for help.” They actually have a name for this phenomenon though I can’t quite go for it. In the end, people didn’t help.
When something absurd or unexpected happens in front of us, we don’t know what to think or do at times. This has to do with us not our times.
Update - I just found this as more proof people will just stand around when something is going down.
