Although I’d agree that a Karate Kid remake seems totally ridiculous, Stephen Chow is just awesome at funny spoof-types of movies. If he wanted to do more of a spoof of Karate Kid, I think that would be a winning idea with him and Will Smith.
Why do they have to remake anything. Kung Fu Hustle rocked. Just write a movie, or rip it off like everyone else does. Don’t call it Karate Kid.
Yeah…. I agree. Maybe a spoof where Will Smith is the teacher and Stephen Chow is the student…. Call it “Kung Fu Foo” or something. But I don’t think Stephen chow can do a “straight” action movie without a LOT of humor. The guy is fantastic. Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer are fantastic. So I think whatever idea they’re throwing around would almost HAVE to be something more spoof-like than actual remake. Plus, who could really be the “kid”. They’re both like 40. Good shape and all, but seriously…. 40.
