Spoiler**How I Would Fix Cloverfield**Spoiler

Big Movie

If you didn’t see the words spoiler, this is the last time I will tell you. Spoiler!

The handicam action was too much for most people and took away from the experience. The effect could have been the same if they had just cleaned it up and had steadier shots with occassional rough shots when they were running.

The second was the abrupt ending. As much as I agreed with JJ Abrams about the mystery box I have to say that it was an unsatisfying ending. He did his best to make this as real as possible. But we knew it isn’t real and we wanted more. This could have been easily done with another video. At the beginning they said this was one of about four (I think) videos they had. They could have had another video showing the creature going down, getting away or the whole island being blown up. We could have seen the creature coming out of the water or just something more.

Those two things would fix most people’s experience. JJ Abrams is a genius pure and simple. I think this is a situation where he pushed his vision and wouldn’t relent. He wanted this to be as real as possible and the handicam stuff pulled me in very well. Maybe because I watch so much video online, it didn’t bother me. I will probably watch it again.

One question though. Why were there so many crew members in the the credits? How do you end up with so many people with one camera based on one angle?
